Bilateral meetings in the margins of the ‘Italia-Africa. A bridge for common growth’ Summit

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, had several bilateral meetings with African Heads of State and Government in the margins of the Italia-Africa Summit.

Yesterday, President Meloni met with the President of Comoros and current Chairperson of the African Union, Azali Assoumani, with the President of the Republic of Tunisia, Kaïs Saïed, with the President of the Republic of Kenya, William Samoei Ruto, with the President of the Republic of Mozambique, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, and with the President of the Republic of Senegal, Macky Sall. She also met with the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, and with the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity of Libya, Abdul Hamid Mohammed Dbeibeh. The Summit also provided an opportunity for brief meetings with the Prime Minister of São Tomé and Príncipe, Patrice Trovoada, and with the President of the Central African Republic, Faustin Archange Touadera.  

Today, President Meloni met with: the Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed Ali; the Vice President of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, Tiémoko Meyliet Kone; the Head of Government of the Kingdom of Morocco, Aziz Akhannouch; the President of Eritrea, Isaias Afewerki; the President of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina;  the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud; and the President of the Republic of the Congo, Denis Sassou N’Guesso.

The meetings provided an opportunity to exchange ideas on revitalising relations with the African continent, also in view of Italy’s Presidency of the G7, and on the joint development of the ‘Mattei Plan’, as well as to discuss a number of bilateral issues in-depth.
