The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, had a telephone conversation today with the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The two leaders focused on the strength of bilateral relations, underlining the importance of continuing to work to further consolidate the steadily growing trend in trade. In this regard, President Meloni invited President Erdoğan to visit Italy in the first half of 2025 for a new session of the Italy- Türkiye intergovernmental summit.

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, had a telephone conversation today with the President of the Republic of Tunisia, Kais Saied. The call took place after President Saied’s swearing-in ceremony yesterday for his new mandate to lead Tunisia, and provided an opportunity to reaffirm the common desire to strengthen the partnership between Rome and Tunis as well as the one with the European Union.

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, received His Highness the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, at Villa Doria Pamphilj in Rome today, as part of the Emir’s State Visit to Italy. Their discussions focused on the situation in the Middle East. President Meloni shared the outcomes of her recent trips to Jordan and Lebanon with her guest, confirming Italy’s support for the mediation being carried out by Qatar, together with Egypt and the United States, to reach an agreement in Gaza.

Statement by President Meloni on the fight against human trafficking and money laundering

I wish to thank the Guardia di Finanza [Italian Finance Police] in Crotone, the SCICO [Central Organised Crime Investigation Service] and the DDA [District Anti-Mafia Directorate] of Catanzaro for their outstanding operation which has led to the dismantling of an international criminal organisation engaged in human trafficking and money laundering. It is a top priority to combat those who exploit people’s legitimate desire to find better living conditions in order to make huge profits for themselves. The Government is determined to take down these criminal networks and to stamp out the illegal trafficking of human beings, which feeds the interests of the slave traders of the third millennium.

Severe weather: President Meloni in contact with Civil Protection Department

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, is closely following the consequences of the severe weather affecting different parts of Italy, starting with the Bologna area. President Meloni extends her sympathy to the relatives of the victim in Pianoro and is in constant contact with the Minister for Civil Protection, Nello Musumeci, and with the Head of the Civil Protection Department, Fabio Ciciliano.
