    The Italian Government expresses its satisfaction with the outcome of the European Council’s discussion on Lebanon, which was added to the agenda at Italy’s request in order to explore what further initiatives the European Union can put in place to support the stability of this Middle Eastern nation. The EU Heads of State and Government undertook to continue supporting the most vulnerable people in Lebanon, including refugees, internally displaced persons and host communities in need, as well as to provide support to combat human trafficking and smuggling.

    The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, travelled to the Republic of Tunisia today, where she met with the President of the Republic of Tunisia, Kais Saied, at the Presidential Palace of Carthage. In the margins of the meeting, President Meloni issued a press statement.

    Jubilee 2025 Coordination Committee meeting

    The thirteenth meeting of the Coordination Committee for the Jubilee of 2025 was held at Palazzo Chigi today, chaired by Undersecretary of State to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers Alfredo Mantovano. Opening the meeting, Undersecretary of State Mantovano invited the Mayor of Rome and Special Commissioner for the Jubilee 2025, Roberto Gualtieri, to provide an update on the progress of works projects and on implementation of the ‘Caput mundi’ plan, underlining the importance of keeping to schedule to meet the targets set by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP).

    President Meloni’s telephone conversation with King Abdullah II of Jordan

    The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, had a telephone conversation this afternoon with King Abdullah II of Jordan regarding the regional situation in the Middle East following Iran’s attack against Israel. President Meloni made reference to the conclusions of the G7 Leaders’ meeting she chaired on Sunday, and the two Leaders focused on the need to avoid further escalation in the region.

    G7 Leaders’ meeting following Iran’s attack against Israel

    The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, today chaired a video conference meeting of the G7 Heads of State and Government, which was called following Iran’s attack against Israel. Following their discussion, the G7 Leaders adopted a joint declaration that firmly condemns the launch of drones and missiles by Iran, reiterating full support for Israel’s security. The G7 Leaders underlined the need to avoid a further escalation, calling on the parties to refrain from actions aimed at heightening tensions in the Region.
