President Meloni’s telephone conversation with the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, is in constant close contact with the key Heads of State and Government of allied nations and the leaders of the countries most affected by the severe crisis unfolding in the Middle East.
In particular, this evening President Meloni held a telephone conversation with Abdelfattah al-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
 
Their very cordial call focussed on the serious current crisis in the Middle East and the shared need for urgent and coordinated diplomatic action to curb its further expansion and the related humanitarian consequences. The conversation also dealt with the prospects of the ongoing negotiations on the release of hostages.
 
Italy and Egypt will continue to work in a spirit of enhanced cooperation, keeping each other informed of the close diplomatic contacts underway
