The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, had a very cordial meeting with His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, King of Jordan, at Palazzo Chigi today. The meeting was also attended by the Vice President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, and the Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayman Al-Safadi.
The meeting addressed the latest developments in the Middle East, examining in particular the possible initiatives to avoid the ongoing crisis spreading further. Italy and Jordan are at the forefront of efforts to facilitate a solution to the most urgent humanitarian problems and for the release of hostages.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for an exchange of views on the need to relaunch a political horizon with the legitimate Palestinian authorities for the Israeli-Palestinian peace process. It was noted that the traditional, strong friendship between Italy and Jordan can help to address the complex ongoing challenges in the region.
