The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, received the Special government commissioner for the redevelopment and regeneration of the area of Caivano, Fabio Ciciliano, at Palazzo Chigi this morning. The meeting reviewed the work that the Commissioner’s unit has carried out so far as well as the next measures in the pipeline.
The Commissioner informed President Meloni that, as ordered by the Ministry of Defence, the army had resumed the preliminary work to clean up the former Delphinia sports centre this morning. The meeting also focused on the measures to strengthen the administrative structure and operations of the Municipality of Caivano, in relation to which Commissioner Ciciliano stated that the National Agency for Confiscated Assets had made available three vehicles previously confiscated from organised crime to local police, and that talks were ongoing with the Ministry for Public Administration to strengthen the Municipality’s technical and administrative staff. The Commissioner also informed President Meloni that the Ministry of Justice had provided for 30 more administrative posts at judicial offices in the area of ‘Naples North’ (public prosecutor’s office and court), and that work was being carried out to boost the number of judicial officers.
A specific focus was dedicated to public housing in the area of Caivano. President Meloni underlined the Government’s attention to this issue and reaffirmed its willingness to combine fighting illegality with protecting households in situations of economic and social hardship. The meeting between the President of the Council of Ministers and the Commissioner also focused on social regeneration measures, starting with the involvement of local associations, organisations promoting sport and the third sector.
