Statement by President of the Council of Ministers Giorgia Meloni

I welcome with great interest French President Emmanuel Macron’s proposal for cooperation on the fight against illegal immigration. It is clear that Italy, France and the EU must act together to support migrants’ states of origin and to help states of transit dismantle criminal networks of human traffickers. This is the direction the Italian Government has already taken and wants to pursue together with European institutions and its European allies.
