President Meloni meets with President Biden in Washington
As part of her series of meetings to present the priorities of the Italian G7 Presidency for 2024, the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, had a bilateral meeting today with the President of the United States of America, Joseph R. Biden, Jr., in Washington D.C.. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the excellent state of bilateral relations between the two Nations, following on from last July’s joint declaration. The discussion highlighted the shared approaches to the most pressing global challenges.

Nell’ambito delle missioni di presentazione delle priorità della Presidenza italiana del G7 per il 2024, il Presidente del Consiglio, Giorgia Meloni, ha avuto oggi a Washington un incontro bilaterale con il Presidente degli Stati Uniti d’America, Joseph R. Biden. L’incontro ha permesso di fare un punto sull’eccezionale stato delle relazioni bilaterali tra le due Nazioni, nel solco della Dichiarazione congiunta dello scorso luglio. La discussione ha messo in luce gli approcci condivisi alle più pressanti sfide globali.

Gaza: statement by President of the Council of Ministers Giorgia Meloni
It was with deep dismay and concern that I learned the dramatic news of today’s events in Gaza. There is an urgent need for Israel to ascertain the dynamics of what happened and who is responsible.
The numerous new civilian victims require ongoing negotiation efforts to be immediately stepped up in order to create the conditions for a ceasefire and a release of the hostages.

Ho appreso con profondo sgomento e preoccupazione la drammatica notizia di quanto accaduto oggi a Gaza. È urgente che Israele accerti la dinamica dei fatti e le relative responsabilità. Le nuove e numerose vittime civili impongono di intensificare immediatamente gli sforzi sui negoziati in atto per creare le condizioni per un cessate il fuoco e per la liberazione degli ostaggi.
