“I wish to express my heartfelt thanks to all those who have allowed for thousands of faithful and citizens to be present during the days dedicated to paying homage to Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI and to attend his funeral, in perfect conditions: public security forces, Roma Capitale police, the fire brigade, healthcare professionals, the Civil Protection Department, volunteers and all those who have organised, worked for and contributed to this occasion, in accordance with the Vatican authorities in charge.”
