President Meloni’s statement on anniversary of the death of Enrico Mattei

On the 61st anniversary of his death, today we remember Enrico Mattei, a great Italian and one of the architects of the miracle that made Italy a global economic power.
Founder of Italian energy company ENI, Mattei understood, before others did, that a nation’s energy policy also determines its production capacity, geopolitical positioning and ability to defend its strategic interests.
The ‘Mattei formula’ is still deeply relevant today and inspires the actions of the Italian Government. In fact, energy is a key part of the model for cooperation on an equal footing that we intend to build together with our partners, starting with African nations, for a new period of development.
