President of the Council of Ministers Giorgia Meloni, together with Minister of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano, participated in this morning’s maiden journey of the Rome-Pompei Frecciarossa, the new direct rail link created thanks to the collaboration between the Ministry of Culture and Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane [Italian state railway company].
President Meloni addressed journalists both upon her arrival in Pompei and following the visit to the archaeological site.
The Frecciarossa 1000 train will directly link Rome and the archaeological site every third Sunday of the month, allowing travellers and tourists to reach Pompei in one hour and 47 minutes and to return, in the evening, in two hours and 15 minutes.
During the journey, passengers can learn about the history of ancient Pompeii thanks to a video shown on the on-board screens.
