Jubilee 2025: bilateral meeting between the Government and the Holy See

A bilateral meeting between the Italian Government and the Holy See was held at Palazzo Chigi today, in view of the Jubilee of the Catholic Church in 2025. The meeting followed on from the one held in the Consistory Hall of the Vatican’s Apostolic Palace on 19 April.

On behalf of the Italian Government, together with the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, the meeting was attended by Vice-President Tajani, Undersecretary of State to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers Mantovano, Minister of the Interior Piantedosi, Minister of Economy and Finance Giorgetti, Minister of Culture Sangiuliano, Minister of Health Schillaci, Minister for European Affairs Fitto, Minister of Tourism Santanchè and Minister for Disabilities Locatelli. Mayor of Rome and Special Government Commissioner for the Jubilee 2025 Gualtieri, President of the Lazio Region Rocca, and Prefect of Rome Giannini were also present. 
On behalf of the Holy See, the meeting was attended by Secretary of State His Eminence Cardinal Parolin, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization H.E. Monsignor Fisichella, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organisations H.E. Monsignor Gallagher, Undersecretary of the Dicastery for Evangelization H.E. Monsignor Bell, Assessor for General Affairs Monsignor Campisi, Deputy Secretary General of the Governorate of Vatican City State Puglisi-Alibrandi, Deputy Director of Infrastructures and Services Screpanti and Deputy Director of Security and Civil Protection Services Giulietti.

During the meeting, which lasted for approximately one hour, both parties expressed their appreciation for the fruitful and intense cooperation between Italy and the Holy See regarding the organisation of this historic, global event which will bring millions of pilgrims from all over the world to Rome and Italy. The steering committee established at Palazzo Chigi, which has been meeting twice a month, will continue to coordinate and monitor progress. The meeting underscored the cultural as well as the spiritual importance of the event and reviewed progress of the plan of Jubilee-related works projects and measures.
