President Meloni’s telephone conversation with Prime Minister Trudeau of Canada

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, had a cordial telephone conversation today with the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau.

During the conversation, the two Prime Ministers had an in-depth exchange of views on the latest developments in Gaza, confirming the common commitment to avoid an extension of the conflict. They reiterated the determination to achieve an immediate release of the hostages and the creation of humanitarian pauses to support the civilian population in Gaza.

The two leaders stressed the importance of maintaining coordination on the development of the crisis in the coming weeks.

The conversation also provided an opportunity to underscore the importance of close collaboration between the upcoming Italian Presidency of the G7 and Canada’s subsequent Presidency.
