President of the Council of Ministers Giorgia Meloni had a telephone conversation today with President El-Sisi of Egypt, in particular to thank him for the pardon granted to Patrick Zaki, a gesture of great importance that was much appreciated in Italy.
The call was also an opportunity to discuss a number of bilateral issues in depth and to take stock ahead of the Conference on Development and Migration to be held in Rome on Sunday, where Egypt will be represented by Prime Minister Madbouly.
Both leaders expressed their hope that they would soon have an opportunity to meet.
