Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry Francesco Lollobrigida, Minister of Economy and Finance Giancarlo Giorgetti and Minister of Labour and Social Policies Marina Elvira Calderone held a press conference today to present the ‘Dedicata a te’ [‘Dedicated to you’] initiative, which consists of a card distributed by Poste Italiane that will be used to pay out a government contribution towards the purchase of basic foodstuffs.
The initiative is provided for by the Budget Law, with the creation of a specific fund worth EUR 500 million, and regards 1.3 million families in difficulty who do not receive certain other State benefits.
The President of ANCI [National Association of Italian Municipalities], Antonio Decaro, the President of Federdistribuzione [federation of distribution companies], Carlo Alberto Buttarelli, the Director General of INPS [Italian National Social Security Institute], Vincenzo Caridi, and the Director General of Postepay, Laura Furlan, also spoke at the press conference.
Representatives of the third sector were also present.
