AISI deputy director appointment extended
With the Decree of the President of the Council of Ministers (‘DPCM’) signed by President of the Council of Ministers Giorgia Meloni on 22 November, the appointment of Carlo De Donno as deputy director of the Internal Information and Security Agency (‘Agenzia Informazioni e Sicurezza Interna’, ‘AISI’) has been extended for two years. The Parliamentary Committee for the Security of the Republic (‘Comitato parlamentare per la sicurezza della Repubblica’, ‘Copasir’) has been informed of the extension.

NRRP: European Commission gives positive assessment for payment of sixth instalment worth EUR 8.7 billion
President Meloni: great satisfaction with the work carried out, Italy confirms its leading position in Europe. The European Commission has today formally adopted a positive assessment regarding Italy’s achievement of the 39 milestones and targets required for payment of the sixth instalment of its NRRP (National Recovery and Resilience Plan), worth EUR 8.7 billion. The instalment is set to be paid by the end of 2024 upon completion of the standard procedure, confirming that Italy, as well as being the first European Union Member State to receive a positive assessment for its sixth instalment, is also the nation that has received the most funding, which will amount to EUR 122 billion, corresponding to 63% of the total resources of its NRRP, equal to EUR 194.4 billion.

Meeting with the President of the Republic of the Congo
The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, received the President of the Republic of the Congo, Denis Sassou N’Guesso, at Palazzo Chigi today. The meeting confirmed the importance of the partnership between the two nations and provided an opportunity to further discuss the common commitment to concretely implement the initiatives agreed as part of the Mattei Plan for Africa in the areas of water, sustainable agriculture and support for electricity infrastructure.

President Meloni’s statement on International Criminal Court ruling
Over the coming days, I will be looking into the motivations that led to the International Criminal Court’s ruling. Its motivations should always be objective and not political in nature. The Italian Presidency of the G7 intends to include this issue on the agenda at the next Foreign Affairs Ministerial Meeting, which will be held in Fiuggi from 25 to 26 November. This Government remains firm on one point: there can be no equivalence between the responsibilities of the State of Israel and the terrorist organisation Hamas.

President Meloni’s statement on attacks against Italian UNIFIL headquarters
“It is with deep concern and indignation that I have learned the news of fresh attacks against the Italian UNIFIL headquarters in the south of Lebanon, which have also injured some of our military personnel serving on the peacekeeping mission. I wish to express both mine and the Government’s solidarity and closeness to the injured and their families, as well as sincere gratitude for the work the entire Italian contingent carries out in Lebanon on a daily basis. I reaffirm once again that such attacks are unacceptable and renew my appeal for the parties on the ground to guarantee the safety of UNIFIL soldiers at all times and to collaborate in order to swiftly identify those responsible”.

Official visit to the Argentine Republic
The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, visited the Argentine Republic today. This afternoon, she had a meeting with President Javier Milei in Buenos Aires, after which the two leaders issued statements to the press. President Meloni later visited the Italian Cultural Institute and went on to deliver a speech at the Teatro Coliseo.
