Rome’s EXPO 2030 bid: President Meloni meets with BIE Secretary General Kerkentzes

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, met this morning with the Secretary General of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), Dimitri Kerkentzes, at Palazzo Chigi.
The meeting focused on the city of Rome’s candidacy to host the World Expo in 2030. President Meloni recalled the main contents of Italy’s EXPO 2030 bid and confirmed that the Government is fully committed to the success of the Italian capital’s candidature.

President Meloni stressed that it would be an honour for Italy and for Rome, a universal city by definition, to host the 2030 edition of the World Expo, in the year that marks the centenary of the BIE.
The President of the Council of Ministers believes that Italy has all the right credentials to host such a major global event that is all about sustainability, innovation and urban regeneration. 
During the meeting, which was also attended by the Chair of the Promotion Committee, Ambassador Giampiero Massolo, President Meloni reiterated that EXPO 2030 is a national priority and that Rome’s candidature has the support of Italian citizens and all national and local institutions that are involved at all levels.
