President Meloni’s statement on World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims

Each year, thousands of people lose their lives, are injured or become disabled as a result of road traffic accidents. On the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, I wish to express my sincere, heartfelt sympathy for the very many families enduring this suffering. As President of the Council of Ministers, I want to guarantee this Government’s commitment to making Italy’s roads safer. We will fulfil this commitment by tightening controls in places where the highest number of accidents occur and by promoting a culture of safety and responsibility, also with the launch of a campaign to prevent alcohol and drug use, which causes many accidents, and through measures to improve infrastructure and enhance public mobility systems. We will work together with the relevant institutions at national and European level, because putting a stop to road traffic tragedies is a moral obligation towards citizens.
