PM Draghi’s meeting with President Macron

6 Ottobre 2021

President of the Council of Ministers Mario Draghi met with President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron in Brdo this morning.

This exchange gave the two leaders the opportunity to touch on the issues that will be the focus of the G20 summit to be held in Rome at the end of the month, among which vaccines and solidarity with Africa. The two countries share a common willingness to move forward together on these priority issues.

During their meeting, the conference on Libya scheduled for 12 November in Paris was also discussed. There is close coordination between Italy, France and Germany for the implementation of the commitments undertaken in Berlin, which must be finalised in Paris.

President Macron also took the opportunity to express his support for the Italian Government’s initiative to organise a special G20 meeting dedicated to the crisis in Afghanistan.
