Telephone meeting with President Biden, Prime Minister Sunak, Prime Minister Trudeau, President Macron and Chancellor Scholz
The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, participated in a telephone meeting this evening with US President Joe Biden, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
The meeting was dedicated to examining the evolution of the serious crisis triggered by the 7th October 2023 barbaric attack perpetrated by Hamas against the State of Israel.

Si è svolta stasera una riunione telefonica del Presidente del Consiglio, Giorgia Meloni, con il Presidente degli Stati Uniti, Joe Biden, il Primo Ministro britannico, Rishi Sunak, il Primo Ministro canadese Justin Trudeau, il Presidente della Repubblica Francese, Emmanuel Macron, e il Cancelliere tedesco, Olaf Scholz.
La riunione è stata dedicata all’esame dell’evoluzione della grave crisi apertasi dopo l'attacco del 7 ottobre scorso perpetrato da Hamas contro Israele.

Joint Statement on Israel
Today, President Joseph R. Biden, Prime Minister Trudeau of Canada, President Emmanuel Macron of France, Chancellor Olaf Scholz of Germany, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni of Italy, and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak of the United Kingdom spoke regarding the ongoing conflict between Israel and the terrorist organization Hamas. The leaders reiterated their support for Israel and its right to defend itself against terrorism and called for adherence to international humanitarian law, including the protection of civilians. They welcomed the release of two hostages and called for the immediate release of all remaining hostages. They committed to close coordination to support their nationals in the region, in particular those wishing to leave Gaza.

Oggi il Presidente Joseph R. Biden, il Primo Ministro canadese Justin Trudeau, il Presidente francese Emmanuel Macron, il Cancelliere tedesco Olaf Scholz, il Presidente del Consiglio dei Ministri della Repubblica italiana Giorgia Meloni e il Primo Ministro britannico Rishi Sunak hanno discusso del conflitto in corso tra Israele e l'organizzazione terroristica Hamas. I Capi di Stato e di Governo hanno ribadito il loro sostegno a Israele e il diritto di quest'ultimo di difendersi dal terrorismo, e hanno invocato il rispetto del diritto internazionale umanitario, ivi compresa la protezione dei civili. Hanno accolto con favore la liberazione di due ostaggi e hanno richiesto l'immediato rilascio di tutti gli altri ostaggi. Si sono altresì impegnati ad uno stretto coordinamento per sostenere i loro cittadini presenti nella regione, in particolare quelli desiderosi di lasciare Gaza.

Telephone conversation with the President of the State of Israel
During her visit to Tel Aviv, the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, had a telephone conversation with the President of the State of Israel, Isaac Herzog. The conversation provided an opportunity to reaffirm solidarity with the Israeli people following the brutal attacks by Hamas and to discuss possible future peace prospects for the region.

Bilateral meeting with President Mahmoud Abbas
The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, had a long and cordial bilateral meeting with President Mahmoud Abbas today, in the margins of the Cairo Summit for Peace.
During the meeting, Italy’s support was confirmed for the legitimate authority representing the Palestinian people, who certainly do not identify with Hamas. Support for the prospect of two States was also reiterated.
