The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, received the Commander General of the Carabinieri Corps, Salvatore Luongo, at Palazzo Chigi today. The meeting was the first since General Luongo was appointed by the Council of Ministers, and President Meloni wished him all the best in his new position. On behalf of the Government, she also expressed gratitude for the role the Carabinieri have always played in protecting the safety of Italians, both at home and abroad.

Si è svolta a Palazzo Chigi, in Sala Verde, la riunione di insediamento del Comitato Strategico del nuovo Progetto MedOr del Governo Meloni, che vede la trasformazione della Fondazione di Leonardo a ‘Fondazione per l’Italia’ con l’obiettivo di fare squadra nell’interesse della Nazione. La Fondazione MedOr ha rafforzato la propria missione attraverso il coinvolgimento diretto delle più importanti aziende partecipate dallo Stato italiano (Cdp, Enel, Eni, Fs, Fincantieri, Poste Italiane, Snam, e Terna) al fine di svolgere un ruolo sempre più proattivo a sostegno del soft power dell’Italia. 

Tommaso Foti has been sworn in as Minister by President of the Republic Mattarella, and I wish to offer him sincere congratulations, both personally and on behalf of the entire Government. Tommaso is a highly experienced and capable politician and one of Fratelli d’Italia’s most valuable assets today. He has a long parliamentary career behind him, and as parliamentary group leader for Fratelli d’Italia at the Chamber of Deputies, he has shown his value and expertise during this legislative term, guiding the main majority party at Montecitorio. He is a committed, passionate and consistent party member who, from a very young age, has devoted his life to serving his community and the nation. Minister Foti takes over from Raffaele Fitto, the newly appointed Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, and I am sure he will work with the same determination and meticulousness, for the good of Italy and Italians.

Il Presidente del Consiglio dei Ministri, Giorgia Meloni, ha avuto questo pomeriggio un colloquio telefonico con il Presidente entrante del Consiglio europeo, António Costa, a seguito del passaggio di consegne odierno con il Presidente uscente, Charles Michel.
