Statement by President Meloni on EU list of safe countries of origin
It is with great satisfaction that I welcome the proposed EU list of safe countries of origin presented by the European Commission, which also includes, among others, Bangladesh, Egypt and Tunisia. I consider the proposal to bring forward the entry into force of some elements of the Pact on Migration and Asylum equally as positive, particularly the possibility to designate safe countries of origin with exceptions for certain regions and certain categories of individuals, and to apply the 20% threshold. These are in fact cases that allow accelerated border procedures to be activated for migrants arriving from certain nations, as provided for by the Italy-Albania Protocol. This is further confirmation that the direction charted by the Italian Government over these years is the right one, and of the support of an increasing number of European nations. [...]

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, met today with the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Norway, Jonas Gahr Støre, at Palazzo Chigi. The two leaders discussed their shared commitment to strengthening the already excellent bilateral relationship, by fully implementing the declaration of intent on trade collaboration between Italy and Norway. President Meloni’s statement on Russian attack on Sumy
On this holy day of Palm Sunday, another horrible and despicable attack has been carried out by Russia, in Sumy, yet again resulting in innocent civilian victims, sadly including also children. I firmly condemn these unacceptable acts of violence, which contradict any real efforts towards peace, being advanced by President Trump and strongly supported by Italy together with Europe and other international partners. I express my most sincere condolences for the victims, to their families and all Ukrainian people. We will continue to work to stop this barbarity.

Press conference following Council of Ministers meeting no. 123
Council of Ministers meeting no. 123 was held at Palazzo Chigi today. Following the meeting, Minister of Economy and Finance Giancarlo Giorgetti, Minister of Justice Carlo Nordio, Minister for Regional Affairs and Autonomies Roberto Calderoli and Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry Francesco Lollobrigida held a press conference to illustrate the measures adopted.

Deputy Director of Security Intelligence Department appointed
With a Decree of the President of the Council of Ministers (‘DPCM’) signed by President of the Council of Ministers Giorgia Meloni, the Deputy Commander General of the Carabinieri Corps, Army Corps General Mario Cinque, has been appointed Deputy Director of the Security Intelligence Department (‘Dipartimento delle informazioni per la sicurezza’, ‘DIS’). The Parliamentary Committee for the Security of the Republic (‘Comitato parlamentare per la sicurezza della Repubblica’) has been informed of the appointment.

President Meloni meets with Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan
The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, met with Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan today. The meeting underscored the excellent bilateral cooperation between Italy and Jordan, including in the areas of education and family and childhood protection, in relation to which Queen Rania has launched numerous initiatives at both national and global level. The meeting also provided the opportunity for an in-depth exchange of views on the humanitarian situation in Gaza, highlighting the important cooperation that already exists between Italy and Jordan to deliver aid to the civilian population, especially through the Food for Gaza and Sky Hope initiatives.
