NRRP steering committee meeting held at Palazzo Chigi to check Plan’s implementation status and progress of objectives for 7th instalment
A meeting of the steering committee for the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) was held at Palazzo Chigi today, chaired by President of the Council of Ministers Giorgia Meloni. The purpose of the meeting, called by Minister for European Affairs, Southern Italy, Cohesion Policy and the NRRP Raffaele Fitto and attended by the Ministers and Undersecretaries responsible as well as by representatives from ANCI [National Association of Italian Municipalities], UPI [Union of Italian Provinces] and the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces, was to provide a briefing on the payment of the sixth instalment by the European Commission, to check the progress of milestones and targets linked to the seventh payment request and to monitor and provide an update on the NRRP’s financial progress.

President Meloni’s statement on regeneration of the Parco Verde area in Caivano
Today, the State has delivered on another commitment made to citizens. At the opening ceremony for the new ‘Pino Daniele’ centre, we announced that the Government’s work in Caivano was by no means over, and would continue. That is precisely what has happened. Today, the second phase of the redevelopment and urban regeneration programme that has been carried out over the last 15 months got underway, with individuals convicted of Camorra-related crimes being evicted from illegally occupied homes in the Parco Verde area.

President Meloni’s statement on announcement of a ceasefire in Lebanon
Italy welcomes the announcement of a ceasefire in Lebanon, a goal the Government had been working towards for a long time. The ceasefire now provides an opportunity for stabilisation of the Israel-Lebanon border and for displaced persons to return to their homes. Full implementation of Resolution 1701 is key to achieving this goal. Together with its EU and G7 partners, Italy will keep working in this direction, through the presence of our contingent in UNIFIL - who have never left their posts during these months of fighting - and by continuing to play a leading role in international support for the Lebanese armed forces.

NRRP: European Commission gives positive assessment for payment of sixth instalment worth EUR 8.7 billion
President Meloni: great satisfaction with the work carried out, Italy confirms its leading position in Europe. The European Commission has today formally adopted a positive assessment regarding Italy’s achievement of the 39 milestones and targets required for payment of the sixth instalment of its NRRP (National Recovery and Resilience Plan), worth EUR 8.7 billion. The instalment is set to be paid by the end of 2024 upon completion of the standard procedure, confirming that Italy, as well as being the first European Union Member State to receive a positive assessment for its sixth instalment, is also the nation that has received the most funding, which will amount to EUR 122 billion, corresponding to 63% of the total resources of its NRRP, equal to EUR 194.4 billion.

AISI deputy director appointment extended
With the Decree of the President of the Council of Ministers (‘DPCM’) signed by President of the Council of Ministers Giorgia Meloni on 22 November, the appointment of Carlo De Donno as deputy director of the Internal Information and Security Agency (‘Agenzia Informazioni e Sicurezza Interna’, ‘AISI’) has been extended for two years. The Parliamentary Committee for the Security of the Republic (‘Comitato parlamentare per la sicurezza della Repubblica’, ‘Copasir’) has been informed of the extension.
