Wildfire emergency in Aspromonte, PM Draghi’s call with the mayor of Reggio Calabria

President of the Council of Ministers Mario Draghi telephoned the mayor of Reggio Calabria, Giuseppe Falcomatà, today, expressing the Government’s solidarity with and concrete support for the Metropolitan City, especially those communities hit by the fires that have been raging through Aspromonte over the last few days, claiming four lives. PM Draghi confirmed that the Government is closely following Italy’s wildfire emergency with great concern, and will be implementing a relief package for the people and businesses affected, together with a special reforestation plan and measures to make areas safe. In the meantime, the Head of the Civil Protection Department, Fabrizio Curcio, will be travelling to the southern Italian city already tomorrow, in order to assess the situation on the ground and personally manage operations.
