President Meloni’s statement on regeneration of the Parco Verde area in Caivano

Today, the State has delivered on another commitment made to citizens. At the opening ceremony for the new ‘Pino Daniele’ centre, we announced that the Government’s work in Caivano was by no means over, and would continue. That is precisely what has happened. Today, the second phase of the redevelopment and urban regeneration programme that has been carried out over the last 15 months got underway, with individuals convicted of Camorra-related crimes being evicted from illegally occupied homes in the Parco Verde area.

I would like to thank the Prefecture of Naples, the judiciary, the Commissioner’s unit, the police forces and all the operators who were involved in today’s operation, which is a decisive step towards giving dignity back to the decent and honest citizens of Caivano. Thanks also to a synergy between public and private sectors, we are already working towards achieving our next goal, which is to redevelop the properties in the Parco Verde area.

The journey continues. We intend to make Caivano a model, and then replicate that model in all the other areas like Caivano in Italy. This is a demanding commitment, but it is what Italians are expecting of us. And we do not intend to disappoint them.
