PM Draghi: threats to trade union organisations unacceptable
9 October 2021
President of the Council of Ministers Mario Draghi telephoned the Secretary-General of CGIL, Maurizio Landini, to express the Government’s full solidarity with him and the rest of the trade union organisation following today’s attack on its headquarters in Rome. Trade unions are vital for democracy and protect workers’ rights. Any threats against them are unacceptable and must be firmly repelled.
PM Draghi also condemned the violence seen in a number of Italian cities today. People’s right to demonstrate and express their opinions must never degenerate into acts of aggression and intimidation. The Government remains committed to completing the COVID-19 vaccination campaign and thanks the millions of Italians who have already been vaccinated, testifying to their trust and civic-mindedness.
