29 June 2021
The Government and the country’s social partners have come to an agreement on employment, following a meeting held today at Palazzo Chigi. President of the Council of Ministers Mario Draghi and Minister of Labour and Social Policies, Andrea Orlando have signed a joint agreement on employment together with Cgil, Cisl, Uil, Confindustria, Alleanza delle Cooperative and Confapi [organisations representing, respectively, Italian trade unions, industry, cooperatives and SMEs].
“In view of the Government’s proposal regarding the lifting of the redundancy ban, the social partners undertake to recommend use of the social safety nets provided for by current legislation and the decree law that is about to be approved, as an alternative to terminating employment relationships. Based on the shared principles, the social partners hope for and are committed to a swift completion of the reforms regarding social safety nets, as well as the launch of active policies and permanent training processes”.
