Meeting with the Vice President of the United States of America, JD Vance

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, received the Vice President of the United States of America, JD Vance, at Palazzo Chigi today. The meeting was followed by a working lunch, which was also attended by the Vice-Presidents of the Council of Ministers, Antonio Tajani and Matteo Salvini.

The meeting provided an opportunity to underscore the excellent ties between Italy and the United States, also at cultural level, as well as the shared determination to strengthen cooperation in the areas of security, economic growth and technological development, as outlined in the joint statement adopted on the occasion of President Meloni’s recent meeting with the President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, in Washington.

Today’s meeting also allowed for an in-depth discussion on trade issues and the key current topics in international politics, starting with the efforts towards a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.
