The ‘Government guidelines on space and aerospace’ have been published, charting the course for Italy’s future in a sector that is strategic for scientific exploration, national security, economic growth and technological progress.

The Interministerial Committee for Space and Aerospace Research Policies (‘Comitato interministeriale per le politiche relative allo spazio e alla ricerca aerospaziale’, ‘COMINT’) have drawn up the Government guidelines with the contribution of several ministries, institutions, companies and research bodies, focusing on four main aspects:

  • the expansion of knowledge and benefits for society;
  • the growth and competitiveness of the national industrial ecosystem;
  • defining an effective regulatory environment;
  • identifying priority areas for the development of international collaboration.

“In a rapidly changing world, it is essential for Italy to be at the forefront, ready to seize any opportunity and meet the challenges arising from this domain”, writes President of the Council of Ministers Giorgia Meloni in her foreword. “We firmly believe in the values of freedom, democracy, and progress. This document reflects such values, with a view to ensuring security and prosperity for all citizens”. President Meloni concludes: “Together, we can strengthen Italy's role on the international stage and build a better future for present and future generations”.
