Fourth meeting of the Jubilee 2025 coordination committee held at Palazzo Chigi

14 March 2023

The fourth meeting of the coordination committee for the Jubilee of 2025 was held at Palazzo Chigi today, chaired by Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers Alfredo Mantovano. The Mayor of Rome and the Government’s Special Commissioner for the Jubilee 2025, Roberto Gualtieri, opened the meeting, providing a progress update on procurement procedures and project timelines, also in light of the recently introduced simplification regulations.

In particular, it was confirmed that work on Piazza Pia will begin, as expected, by next June, with work on the square in front of the Basilica of San Giovanni scheduled to start by October. With regard to Piazza dei Cinquecento, the plan is to combine the two works projects, dividing them into two functional lots, taking into account the fact that there is a tramway, bus stops and taxis in the worksite areas. Planning of the work to be carried out at Piazza Risorgimento has also begun. With regard to funding for the works and, in particular, redevelopment of the ‘Le Vele’ site in the Tor Vergata area of the city, an agreement has been reached with the Italian Public Property Agency regarding the distribution of resources, also in light of the provision introduced by the NRRP (‘National Recovery and Resilience Plan’) decree. At the same time, the second DPCM [Decree of the President of the Council of Ministers] is being drawn up and should be completed soon.
The meeting, which was also attended, among others, by Minister of Tourism Daniela Santanché and Pro-Prefect of the Holy See's Dicastery for Evangelization Monsignor Rino Fisichella, concluded with the committee scheduling its next meeting for 4 April.

The coordination committee is made up of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Department for European Affairs, Southern Italy, Cohesion Policy and the NRRP, the Lazio Region, the Municipality of Roma Capitale, the Prefecture of Rome, the ‘CCASIIP’ [Coordination Committee for the High Supervision of Infrastructure and Priority Works], the Italian Public Property Agency, the Civil Protection Department,  ANAS S.p.A., the Italian High Council for Public Works, the company ‘Giubileo 2025’, Ferrovie dello Stato [Italian state railway operator], Invitalia [National Agency for Inward Investment and Economic Development], Consip S.p.A., and the Holy See's Dicastery for Evangelization.
