Brexit, Conte - May telephone conversation

The Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte had a telephone conversation with British Prime Minister Theresa May to discuss recent developments on the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union (Brexit), and Ms May gave him a useful update on Britain’s most recent actions. Prime Minister Conte confirmed the need for the United Kingdom to withdraw from the EU according to the terms established by the withdrawal agreement, in an orderly manner, in the interest of the many citizens, including many Italians, as well as the companies affected by Brexit. He stressed the importance of the United Kingdom continuing talks with European public institutions, along with the mutual desire to work to avoid a No-Deal Brexit. Since the United Kingdom is scheduled to withdraw from the European Union on 29 March 2019, the Italian government published useful information on the consequences of Brexit in both scenarios (with or without a deal) to protect the rights of citizens, ensure financial stability and prepare companies and businesses.
